Now it has been sitting in “preparing to restore” for a couple of hours now. It sat in “preparing to restore” for a while, so I’ve tried restarting the restore from Time Machine process. I’m trying to revert back to Mojave with all of my apps, files, and settings by restoring from Time Machine. I upgraded to Monterey 2 days ago not realizing that my 32-bit vsts and such would not work on it. I backed up to Time Machine while still in Mojave (extended journaled). I've tried reseting the PRAM, uninstalling my upgraded RAM, tried starting up in Safe Mode - all to no avail.I have a 2018 MacBook Pro that came with Mojave. I did so in the default settings, with Mac Extended (Journaled) and GUID.Įvery time I attempt to install Mac OS High Sierra, the log throws several errors immediately: There wasn't enough space on the volume after attempting to the restore, so I found that I needed to erase the Parent Disk. I then get the Apple logo and "processing" bars for a few minutes. I reboot the Mac with the Option/Alt key pressed and I get as far as selecting the Flash drive as a boot device. So, I downloaded the Install package for High Sierra and copied it to a Flash drive. But in what is probably a misguided attempt to downgrade the system to HighSierra (to make it compatible with Steam for my 14 year old), i've been unable to reinstall the OS. It was running Ventura and doing just fine. (He replaced the internal drive with a Samsung SSD 870EVO 500GB there's also a small Fusion Drive - not sure if the drive sitch is relevant).
